SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Teaching Assistant

Salary: £95 - £120 per day

Contract: Full Time/Part Time
Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of young people? GSL Education are looking for a dedicated SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Teaching Assistant to join our client school in Rotherham. As an SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping them to overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs.
- Assist the classroom teacher in planning and delivering tailored learning activities.
- Help to create a safe, nurturing, and positive learning environment.
- Support students in developing social skills, emotional regulation, and positive behaviour.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Foster strong relationships with students, encouraging their confidence and self-esteem.
Requirements:
- Experience working as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- Relevant qualifications such as CACHE or NVQ would be a plus but not must.
- A strong understanding of Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child development are desirable.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
- Have an updated CV (covering last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the update service (or be willing to apply for one).
