Our schools in Sheffield are searching for empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistants to join our team immediately, offering a rewarding chance to make a real difference in the lives of students facing unique challenges.

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping students overcome barriers to learning and supporting their emotional well-being. Our team is collaborative, passionate, and dedicated to providing exceptional care and education.

The Role:

As an SEMH Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students who experience a range of social, emotional, and mental health challenges. Your key responsibilities will include:

  1. Personalised Support: Provide tailored support to students, helping them engage with the curriculum and develop coping mechanisms for managing emotional difficulties.
  2. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour strategies to support students in maintaining positive behaviour in the classroom and other school settings.
  3. Emotional and Social Development: Foster a safe and nurturing environment, offering emotional support and guidance to help students build resilience and self-esteem.
  4. Collaboration: Work closely with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development of each student.
  5. Team Teach: While prior training in Team Teach behaviour management strategies is preferred, it is not essential. We are happy to offer Team Teach training free of charge to successful candidates.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as an SEMH Teaching Assistant or similar role, particularly working with students with SEMH.
  • Strong empathy, patience, and a passion for helping students overcome social and emotional barriers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships.
  • Flexibility and the capacity to work collaboratively within a supportive team.
  • Experience with behaviour management techniques is desirable, though Team Teach training will be provided if necessary.
