The Role

We are looking for a number of Teaching Assistant's to work across a range of curriculum areas, and across any of our college sites.

In this rewarding role, you will support the planning and delivery of high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for young people, including those with EHC plans, both in and out of the classroom.

As a Teaching Assistant you will share a strong belief in young people's ability to achieve their work and personal goals. You will set challenging and demanding expectations and promote self-esteem and independence. You will assist learners to engage in teaching activities and shared active learning using digital platforms/Google classroom and assistive technology.

You will create and maintain a purposeful and supportive teaching environment, in accordance with lesson/curriculum teaching plans. You will use strategies, in liaison with the teacher/tutor, to support young people to achieve learning goals. You will provide teaching that builds from easier to more difficult tasks and breaks down harder skills into smaller parts, to support learners to develop their independence, life and powerful work skills. You will assist with the planning and preparation of learning activities.

You will…

You will establish clear communication and a professional relationship with the teacher/tutor, so that all parties involved have clear expectations of what is required of them. You will have a high level of professionalism, good verbal and written communication skills, empathy and flexibility to meet the needs of a variety of learners & staff.

You will need to hold or be working towards your Maths and English L2/C grade to be considered for this role. You will need to hold a level 3 supporting teaching and learning qualification.

Department Info

In this role you will work closely with members of the vocational curriculum team you are assigned to. You will report directly to the Curriculum Manager and liaise closely with tutors to support learners within the classroom environment.

The role of Teaching Assistant will be based at either Rotherham Campus, Dearne Valley Campus or North Notts College campus. Please specify your preferred campus on your application.
