My client are a reputable specialist sub-contractorspecializing in Single-Ply Flat Roofing and Rainscreen cladding. My client are currently seeking a talented and experienced In-House SFS & Cladding Designer to join our Rotherham based team.
Role Overview:
As an In-House Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting Designer, you will play a crucial role in the design and development of solutions for our construction projects. You will work closely with theestimating dept, operational team, client, and architect to interpret architectural drawings and specifications, ensuring the successful execution of projects.
Responsibilities:
1.Design with cost in mind: Collaborate with our estimating dept to understand tender allowances and costed systems based on post tender handover.
2. Design Development: liaise with architects, engineers, and project teams to develop innovative and efficient solutions that meet the project requirements, considering factors such as structural integrity, aesthetics, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
3. Interpretation of Architectural Drawings: Review and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to understand the design intent, scope, and requirements related to Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting.
4. System Selection: Evaluate different systems available in the market and recommend the most suitable systems based on project specifications, performance criteria, and client preferences.
5. Technical Detailing: Create detailed technical drawings, including plans, elevations, sections, and construction details, using industry-standard software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) to illustrate the proposed designs.
6. Material Selection: Assist in the selection of appropriate materials for Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting, considering factors such as durability, performance, aesthetics, and compliance with building regulations.
7. Compliance and Standards: Ensure that all designs adhere to relevant industry standards, building codes, regulations, and safety guidelines, while also considering environmental sustainability practices.
8. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate effectively with the operations team, architects, client, subcontractors, and suppliers to coordinate design activities, resolve design-related issues, and ensure seamless integration of systems into the overall project.
9. Produce material schedules to enable the buying department secure best price quotations.
10. Management & coordination of outsourced draughtsmen when workload dictates.
Requirements:
- Proven experience as Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting designer, preferably within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in interpreting architectural drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of various Rainscreen / Cladding and Sheeting systems, materials, and construction methods.
- Proficiency in industry-standard design software, such as AutoCAD and Revit.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings.
- Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations, and standards.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and a strong commitment to quality.
