This is an excellent opportunity to play a pivotal role in ensuring engineering excellence while working within a forward-thinking and supportive environment.Role OverviewReporting to the Department Engineer, you will lead the mechanical engineering function for your area. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you’ll provide engineering expertise to support operations, improve plant performance, and ensure compliance with statutory, safety, and quality standards. This hands-on role offers a blend of leadership, technical problem-solving, and project management responsibilities.Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and develop a team of engineers and technicians, ensuring their growth through training and mentorship.
  • Manage planned maintenance and inspection schedules to ensure compliance and efficiency.
  • Provide engineering input to optimize plant operations and performance.
  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, conducting regular audits and managing risks effectively.
  • Monitor and control engineering budgets, materials, and resource allocation.
  • Drive continuous improvement by implementing failure reduction strategies and process upgrades.
  • Lead major maintenance periods, including planning, justification, and execution within agreed budgets.
  • Manage contractors, ensuring competence, adherence to safety procedures, and timely project delivery.
  • Investigate and resolve issues through root cause analysis, implementing long-term solutions.
  • Maintain detailed records in the CMMS system (INFOR), ensuring compliance and supporting continuous improvement.
About YouWe’re looking for a proactive and experienced engineering professional with strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a collaborative mindset. You should be driven to exceed expectations, solve complex challenges, and lead your team to achieve operational success.Essential Criteria
  • Engineering qualification (HNC or higher) and 5+ years in a supervisory or technical role.
  • Experience with plant engineering and systems such as hydraulics, pneumatics, and VAC systems.
  • CMMS experience (preferably INFOR).
  • Strong understanding of risk management, Health & Safety legislation, and their application in a manufacturing environment.
  • Analytical problem-solving skills and experience with failure reduction and reliability-based maintenance.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Desirable Criteria
  • Experience with VIM, VAR, ESR furnaces, heat treatment furnaces, and associated auxiliary equipment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of engineering principles and project management.
  • A background in mentoring and team development to foster a high-performing workforce.
