This is a great opportunity to join an innovative engineering team, to drive the continuous improvements of the manufacturing processes of new and existing products.

The Role

A talented and experienced Process Engineer is sought to assist with the design and optimisation of a Hydrogen production reactor and system. In this role, you will have technical ownership over the process equipment, including specifying units, assisting with integration, and generating standard operating procedures. These process units will include compressors, heat exchangers, composition sensors, valves, filters, etc. In particular, we are seeking someone with relevant experience with Hydrogen applications, solids handling, and microwave processes.

Responsibilities

As part of the technical team, the Process engineer's responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting the engineering team to design and specify equipment for Hydrogen generators.
  • Generation of PFD (Process flow diagrams) and P&ID (Piping & instrumentation diagrams).
  • Generating engineering documentation like technical specification documents, equipment/valve lists, and SOPs.
  • Communicating with vendors to source process equipment.
  • Assisting in the generation of procedures and risk assessment documentation.
  • Operating equipment in an R&D setting.
  • Analysing datalogger files to try and improve system performance.
  • Participating in H&S meetings and reporting potential issues/improvements in the company's H&S practices.
  • Assisting the operations team with root cause analysis and fault-finding activities.

Qualifications, experience, and skills

Essential requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Process/Chemical engineering (or equivalent) or 5 years of experience in a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years working in an engineering design environment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment developing first-of-kind technology.

Desirable qualifications/experience:

  • Previous experience working in a start-up.
  • Previous experience working with Hydrogen or other flammable gases in an ATEX/Ex environment.
  • Previous experience specifying process equipment and dealing with vendors.
  • Experience with microwave-driven chemical processes.

Preferred skills:

  • Strong problem-solving skills, comfortable with cutting-edge technology development.
  • Structured/organised methods of working and file management.
  • Pragmatic and detail-conscious.
  • Adept at writing concise technical documents.
  • Previously demonstrated ability to lead a team (not essential).
