The Role

You will support the Head of Construction by overseeing a portfolio of Solar and Battery projects through delivery and into Operations. This will include supporting your team to ensure projects are delivered safely, on budget and on time, working closely with internal and external stakeholders and influencing positively to ensure the project achieves good outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Creating, driving, and maintaining a positive engagement of the clients Safety, Health, Environment and Wellbeing culture throughout the team and into the portfolio of projects through Development, Delivery and into Operations.
  • Accountable for the construction delivery of large capital projects on time, on budget and safely
  • Accountable for ensuring projects are operational ready through effective engagement with relevant business departments
  • Responsible for the review and input of significant construction costs, risk mitigation, operability, and deliverability programmes of projects in early development and acquisition stages
  • Accountable for the effective governance management of projects within your portfolio
  • Interfacing directly with and report indirectly to Senior stakeholders up to Executive Director level across the business and wider Group, and with external clients and stakeholders. You will be prepared to challenge senior stakeholders where required and be a model for professional integrity and provide positive promotion of the Project Delivery Team.
  • Provide direction to the Procurement and Commercial teams to input into contract requirements that support a level of risk acceptable to the business.
  • Be accountable for the developing and managing the construction portfolio of relevant projects finances effectively by; ensuring that each project is accurately forecasted and financially reported, all project purchase orders are raised, and invoices receipted in line with the clients prompt payment policy. Be responsible for all project spend being managed in line with the clients process & procedures
  • Maintain and develop technical expertise and knowledge in Solar and Battery technologies more than that of junior team members in your relevant sector
  • Accountable for the effective governance management of projects within your portfolio
  • This role will also require you and your team to support the delivery of transformational and improvement projects both within your own team and across the wider teams.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a commissioning strategy working closely with internal stakeholders to across the business

What do I need?

To be considered for this role, we would love you to have:

  • Demonstrable record of accomplishment of delivering large, complex projects more than 30-50m in value preferably in the Energy sector.
  • Extensive experience in enacting senior leadership roles in the delivery of complex projects in the energy industry
  • Demonstrable experience of working under commercial contract frameworks such as NEC3/4, FIDIC etc.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage with partners, customers, and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Due to the nature of the role, a full driving licence is required.
