Quantity Surveyor
We are currently recruiting for a Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a leading Groundwork, Civil Engineering Company. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing project costs, ensuring that financial resources are effectively allocated throughout the lifecycle of construction projects. This position requires a strong understanding of cost control measures and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders to achieve project objectives.
Role Description
- Commercial Support: Provide commercial support for Groundworks and Civil Engineering projects.
- Cost Estimation: Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including materials, labour, and overheads.
- Feasibility Studies: Conduct feasibility studies to assess the viability of projects from a financial perspective.
- Budget Monitoring: Monitor project budgets and expenditures, ensuring adherence to cost control measures.
- Tender Preparation: Prepare tender documents and assist in the evaluation of contractor bids.
- Client Liaison: Communicate with clients, client representatives, and other third parties on commercial issues.
- Site Visits: Conduct regular site visits to assess progress and identify any potential cost implications.
- Procurement: Provide advice on procurement strategies, prepare subcontract documentation, issue enquiries, and negotiate agreements including interim and final accounts.
- Risk Management: Identify and manage risks and opportunities, implementing mitigation measures as necessary.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions related to projects.
- Forecasting: Prepare quarterly forecasts and understand forecast costs to completion.
Skills & Attributes
- Education: A degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field is essential.
- Experience: Demonstrable commercial experience, preferably within Civil Engineering/Groundworks.
- Accreditation: RICS accreditation is preferred but not essential.
- Financial Acumen: Strong understanding of cost control principles and practices, financially astute.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Software Proficiency: Proficient in using quantity surveying software and tools.
- Communication: Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse teams.
- Problem-Solving: A proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making in a fast-paced environment.
