Location: Rotherham, S60
Working Hours: Monday - Friday, Days
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience

We are currently seeking a skilled and motivated Lab Technician to join our team in Rotherham. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, managing external testing, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will play a key role in providing accurate and timely data to assist with product development and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrate external testing, including sending samples, arranging purchase orders, and reviewing results.
  • Conduct laboratory comparison tests and perform internal mechanical testing as per documented procedures.
  • Create certificates and reports in accordance with relevant standards and company procedures.
  • Calibrate equipment according to schedule and ensure periodic internal calibration checks in line with ISO/IEC 17025.
  • Maintain and interpret statistical charts using relevant software.
  • Assist with problem-solving related to metallurgical or chemical issues in the manufacturing process.
  • Perform light maintenance on laboratory equipment, reporting issues when outside of your capabilities.
  • Prepare sample pieces for testing requirements and conduct internal chemical analysis.
  • Perform metallographic preparation and corrosion testing, including photomicrography.
  • Respond efficiently and professionally to inquiries, keeping customers informed of any changes or updates.
  • Present laboratory data and results to management or senior colleagues.
  • Ensure laboratory housekeeping standards are maintained.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in a laboratory environment, ideally within metallurgy, chemistry, or related fields.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing procedures, calibration, and equipment maintenance.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software for data interpretation and reporting.
  • Ability to follow documented procedures and industry standards (ISO/IEC 17025).
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present data to senior colleagues.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
