Reed FE are representing a brilliant opportunity for a Pastoral Safeguarding caseworker to play a crucial role in supporting the needs of our young people aged 16+ who are out of Education and Training. This position is ideal for an experienced safeguarding professional who is dedicated to fostering positive relationships and advocating for students and their families.

Day-to-Day of the Role:
  • Relationships and Advocacy:
    • Build positive and professional relationships with students, families/carers, and external agencies such as Social Services, Mental Health, and Outreach teams.
    • Apply healthy and practical strategies to support disengaged learners and their families.
    • Help students and families advocate for themselves and others.
    • Attend and contribute effectively to all SEND Meetings, staff meetings, and training sessions as required.
  • Administration:
    • Maintain and innovate new methods of record keeping to a high standard.
    • Assist with the consultation and transition process for students, prioritising information gathering and effective sharing.
  • Outcomes:
    • Develop and sustain a network of partnerships for work placements and positive outcomes in employment, college places, or further education.
    • Support students effectively in identifying outcomes and suitable career pathways.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Qualifications:
    • GCSE Level 4 (Grade C) minimum in Maths and English (Essential).
    • Youth Work qualification to at least Level 3 (Desirable).
    • Up-to-date Safeguarding Knowledge to at least Level 3 (Desirable).
    • Information, Advice, or Guidance qualification to at least level 2 (Desirable).
  • Experience:
    • At least two years of experience working with young people (Essential).
    • Teaching experience with students with ASD, ADHD, ODD (Desirable).
    • Knowledge of Community Projects and Volunteering schemes within the London Area (Desirable).
  • Skills, Qualities, and Attributes:
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
    • Ability to build and maintain quality relationships through interpersonal skills and effective communication.
    • Demonstrate personal and professional integrity, promoting good progress and outcomes by students.
    • Ability to manage difficult situations professionally and sensitively.
