Operations Technician – Renewable Energy

MC Technical Recruitment are recruiting for several Assistant Operators / Operations Technicians to join a 40MW biomass power station in the Rotherham area. As the Operations Technician you will be responsible for assisting the Shift Team Leader in the safe and efficient running of the plant whilst maximising availability and reliability.

Roles and Responsibilities

As the Operations Technician, you will be responsible for:

• Performing plant walk-arounds and inspections, ensuring optimum performance of plant machinery.
• Carrying out first line maintenance activities to ensure minimal plant breakdowns.
• After a training period, eventually operating the plant via the DCS
• Covering for the ASTL when required
• Monitor compliance with all aspects of the sites environmental permit reporting any possible incidents to the STL
• Supervising the delivery of site consumables e.g., lime, carbon, ammonia etc.
• Assisting with plant shutdowns.
• Complete any training that is required.

This is a role that will involve working a 12-hour shifts covering days, nights as well as some weekends.

To be considered for this role you should have:

• Operations and/or maintenance experience in a heavy industrial environment, preferably within the power generation, EFW or similar e.g., anaerobic digestion, chemical or water treatment. Marine Engineers with watchkeeping experience at LET level or similar would also suit
• Ideally a relevant engineering qualification – BTEC, NVQ, ONC etc
• Some basic mechanical or electrical maintenance skills would be desirable but not essential
• A good understanding and awareness of H&S
• Willingness to work on a 12-hour shift pattern that includes both days and nights
