IT Network Engineer
Salary: 28,000 - 38,000 DOE + Benefits
Location: Central Southampton and Romsey (Car Required to Travel Between Sites)
As a trusted recruitment partner to this impressive educational establishment with sites across Hampshire, we are seeking experienced IT Network Professionals who are looking for their next opportunity either as an IT Network Engineer, or Assistant Network Manager depending on your level of experience. You will work within a forward-thinking IT team, supporting cutting-edge technology across multiple sites.
Depending on your prior experience and role level, you can expect to be responsible for a mix of the below;
- Support the Head of IT in managing and maintaining IT systems, including networking, cybersecurity, and cloud services.
- Install, configure, and maintain network hardware such as switches, routers, and wireless access points.
- Provide technical support to users and ensure network performance is optimised for speed and reliability.
- Take operational responsibility for developing the school's network systems under the guidance of senior leadership.
- Manage wired and wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs, and network security practices.
- Get involved in network design, maintenance, and failover procedures whilst ensuring maximum uptime across sites.
- Ensure telehony systems are configured and managed, resolving issues in a timely manner.
- As a car driver, travel between sites across Southampton and Romsey as part of your role.
We're looking for prior experience in a mix of the following (not all required);
- Solid understanding of networking principles (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Experience with network infrastructure (routers, switches, firewalls, access points).
- Knowledge of wired and wireless networks, VLANs, VPNs and network security practices.
- Familiarity with network monitoring tools and diagnostics.
- Either experience as a Network Engineer, or a Senior Network Engineer.
- Experience of Microsoft Sever and Desktop environments (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP).
- Desirable Certifications: CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA or similar
- Desirable: Education Sector Experience, Virtualisation Platforms (VMware, Hyper-V), GDPR Knowledge
