Senior Cell Biologist:

South Cambridgeshire

We are seeking a Senior Cell Biologist for a global pharmaceutical company in South Cambridgeshire. The ideal candidate should be proactive in problem-solving, solutions-focused, and have an understanding of client expectations and commercial elements. In the role, you will work in a diverse environment, utilizing your skills and knowledge as an independent team member. You will lead investigations across various projects, support method validation, optimization, and development, and provide guidance to junior team members.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A BSc, MSc, or PhD in Biology, Chemistry, or a related scientific discipline is essential.
  • Over 5 years of experience in using cell-based bioassays for biopharmaceutical analysis.
  • Experience working in a GxP regulatory laboratory with a strong understanding of GMP principles.
  • Proficiency in method development and validation.
  • Experience in training, supervising, and coordinating the work of junior scientists.
  • Expertise in plate-based bioassays and other techniques such as ELISA, quantitative PCR, and flow cytometry.

Key Activities:

  • Proficiency in cell-based potency bioassays covering endpoints like cell proliferation, cell death, receptor binding, cell activation, gene transfection/transduction.
  • Providing analytical services in a GMP-regulated laboratory for the pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical sectors.
  • Experience with biopharmaceuticals (e.g., mAbs, bispecific antibodies, peptides, viruses, cell and gene therapies).
  • Providing specialist expertise in method development, analytical method validation, and sample analysis.
  • Confidently communicating with clients to establish requirements, report outcomes, and advise on strategies to tackle problems.
  • Training and mentoring junior staff.
