- Take overall responsibility for the school in the absence of the Head of School.
- Lead on school examinations.
- Work closely with staff and students to maintain the school's strategic objectives.
- Assist in the ongoing monitoring and evaluation of the Quality Improvement Plan.
- Lead and monitor staff progress, encouraging their professional development.
- Ensure the welfare, conduct, and progress of students, effectively communicating their needs to all staff.
- Foster positive relationships with parents, carers, external agencies, and the wider community.
- Monitor and evaluate the school curriculum, student attainment, and progress.
- Qualified teacher status.
- At least 5 years of successful teaching within a special needs environment.
- Evidence of major whole school responsibilities and successful practice.
- Experience of working with the community and involving school governors/trustees.
- A clear understanding of effective teaching and learning qualities.
- Knowledge of effective behaviour and teaching strategies in a special school setting.
- Understanding of TEACCH or similar ASD intervention strategies.
- Up-to-date knowledge of statutory regulations and OFSTED requirements.
