My client is a Civil Engineering Tier Two subcontractor who also act as a main contractor on various projects. They currently operate in 8 countries and have a turnover of 250M. They work primarily on major infrastructure projects providing groundworks and civil engineering expertise. Sectors include residential, commercial, public, technology, infrastructure and data centre markets offering a broad range of services including civil engineering, utilities and construction.

About the role

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will be working on a 28M package on a 120M project. There are two buildings being constructed, one is a refurb and the other is a new build. You will be going in and setting up a new team where you will build and oversee a SQS and a QS. This role will be suitable for someone who has a strong utility and construction background. Build experience is ideal but not essential. You will need to be a natural leader and be able to communicate at all levels with the clients and be good at negotiating and persuading. Projects will include gas and electrical packages and both NEC and JCT contract experience would be ideal. There will be scope for career progression in the role with a company that has an excellent reputation in the industry and is very forward thinking. This role be based on site for at least 4 days a week in Royston.

Requirements

You will be degree qualified and have an excellent knowledge of the utility and major infrastructure sector. A minimum of 2 years experience in a Managing Quantity Surveyor role is required and a working knowledge of contract law and commercial practise is essential. The contract that is being used is a ICHEME Burgundy Book so any knowledge of that contract is ideal.
