Shift: Monday to Thursday, 5:00 PM to 5:00 AM
Reporting to: Operations Manager
Pay: 17 - 19 per hour, plus shift allowance of a time and a third
Overtime: Opportunities available, often encouraged (subject to company discretion)

Job Overview:

We are looking for an experienced Nightshift Foreman (Supervisor) to oversee the nightshift operations of our precision breakdown machine shop. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and programming of Siemens CNC Milling Centres, along with overseeing a team of machinists during the night shift. The ideal candidate will be adaptable and capable of working across a range of tasks, including CNC programming and operating, manual machining (lathes and mills), and desirably, basic welding.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Machine Operation & Setup:
    • Oversee and operate Siemens CNC Milling Centres, ensuring high-quality, efficient machining operations.
    • Program, set, and operate CNC Milling machines using Siemens controls.
    • Ensure machines are set up according to job specifications, including tool selection, fixture setup, and program input.
  • Programming & Offline Programming:
    • Program and modify CNC Milling Centre programs using Siemens controls and offline software, ideally Fusion 360.
    • Develop and optimize machining processes to improve efficiency, reduce downtime, and maintain high precision.
    • Use Fusion 360 or other CAM software for offline programming to create complex machining instructions.
  • Team Leadership & Supervision:
    • Lead and supervise the nightshift team of machinists, ensuring all jobs are completed efficiently and according to specification.
  • Quality Control & Process Improvement:
    • Perform inspections using various measuring instruments such as micrometers, vernier calipers, and height gauges.
  • Maintenance & Equipment Management:
    • Ensure that all equipment, including CNC machines and manual tools, is well-maintained and operational.
    • Address and resolve any equipment breakdowns promptly and report major issues to the maintenance team.
    • Oversee basic maintenance and preventative maintenance tasks for the shop's machinery.
  • Manual Machining & Welding (Desirable Experience):
    • Operate and supervise the use of manual lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment as required.
    • Basic welding skills may be required for certain breakdown tasks and repairs.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in CNC machining, specifically with Siemens CNC Milling Centres.
  • Ability to program, set, and operate CNC Milling machines with Siemens controls; offline programming (Fusion 360) is ideal.
  • Experience with other CNC controls such as FANUC or Heidenhain is a plus.
  • Knowledge of basic welding techniques for repairs and breakdown work.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., City & Guilds, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent in Engineering or Machining) is advantageous.
