About the role
As part of the Council’s Play Development scheme, we are looking for a highly capable play leader to join our team of Play Rangers. Showing excellent teamwork skills, you will help devise and lead safe, supervised, and explorative play in both School and Community settings, proactively supporting the delivery of increased play opportunities for young people and families in the borough.
Motivated and passionate about improving children’s health and mental wellbeing, you will work collaboratively with the team to design projects that enhance playful intuition through physical, creative and self-directed activity. You will have the experience and skills to capture children and young people’s interests, leading them through instructional activity including multisport and games, whilst also nurturing their imagination during free play.
About you
You will have good understanding of safeguarding and child protection and be committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and families that participate in Play Ranger sessions. Through understanding of the needs of the community you will work hard to create a play environment that is safe and inclusive.
Play sessions are held throughout term time and holiday periods in Rugby’s parks and open spaces as well as community facilities delivering after school and evening youth activity clubs. There will also be opportunities to deliver play provision within local schools as part of lunchtime sessions, whilst displaying excellent communication with these partners.
You will work within schools and the community, predominantly during term time with the opportunity to provide Play Ranger led activities during special events and community play sessions throughout some school holiday periods.
Your own transport, with the ability to carry equipment to various locations is essential. This post is subject to an enhanced disclosure under the Disclosure and Barring Service.
