Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Press Brake Operative to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the setup, operation, and maintenance of press brake machines to bend, shape, and manipulate sheet metal and other materials according to precise specifications. This role is critical in ensuring our products are manufactured to high-quality standards and meet all required specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Machine Setup: Set up press brake machines in accordance with technical drawings, specifications, and job orders.
- Operation: Operate press brake machinery safely and efficiently to produce metal components in line with production schedules and quality standards.
- Quality Control: Inspect and measure finished parts using precision instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and protractors to ensure accuracy and quality.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve any machine or material issues during operation to prevent downtime and maintain production flow.Tooling and Maintenance: Perform regular machine maintenance, including cleaning and changing tooling as required, to ensure optimal machine performance.
- Health & Safety: Adhere strictly to health and safety policies and procedures, using personal protective equipment (PPE) and following safe working practices.
- Documentation: Complete relevant paperwork, including production logs and quality control documentation, to maintain accurate production records.
- Collaboration: Work closely with other team members, including engineers, fabricators, and quality inspectors, to ensure product specifications are met and project timelines are adhered to.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience: Proven experience operating press brake machinery within a manufacturing or fabrication environment.
- Technical Knowledge: Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, with a focus on producing accurate and high-quality work.
- Physical Fitness: Physically able to handle materials and stand for extended periods.
- Problem-Solving Skills: Capable of identifying and resolving machine or process issues independently.
- Communication: Good verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Safety Awareness: Knowledge of and commitment to workplace health and safety regulations and practices.
Desirable Qualifications:
- Forklift Licence: Advantageous but not essential.
- Experience with other fabrication machinery, such as laser cutters or CNC equipment, would be beneficial.
