The recruitment group are proudly working in partnership with an established company based in Rugby who are looking for a skilled, detail orintated Electrical test engineer to join their friendly team. The Electrical Test Engineer must possess a strong understanding of electronics and electrical circuits to ensure the safe testing and fault finding of electronic and electrical equipment. Analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as well as the ability to produce reports that support product improvements.

- 37.50 hours per week - Monday - Thursday 08:30am - 5.30pm (45 minutes unpaid lunch 12.45pm – 1.30pm) Friday - 08:30am -1.00pm

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:
- Conduct incoming inspections of subcontract-built PCBs and electrical assemblies.
- Test electrical PCBs and assemblies in line with departmental procedures.
- Maintain test and traceability records using office tools such as Excel and Word.
- Fault-find and correct electronic circuits on both new build and customer-returned products.
- Rework PCBs and assemblies to meet customer and specification requirements.
- Read and interpret electronic schematics and assembly drawings.
- Build test rigs to facilitate the testing and validation of circuits/assemblies and assist in evaluating electronic designs.
- Inspect and test electrical panels used to control machinery, equipment, and systems, ensuring they meet specifications.
- Follow blueprints and wiring schematics and use electrical testing equipment and instruments.
- Compare wiring and the location of control devices on panels with blueprints and wiring diagrams to verify assembly.
- Examine wiring for loose or faulty connections.
- Connect leads from panels to power sources in preparation for testing activities.
- Adjust rheostats to regulate current loads on panel controls and observe the operation of relays, cut-outs, and other devices to ensure they meet specifications.
- Test wiring circuits and controls to isolate and diagnose the causes of malfunctions using electrical instruments such as voltmeters, ammeters, and ohmmeters.
- Record the causes of malfunctions on test sheets and route defective panels for rework.
- Replace defective control devices on panels using hand tools and solder any loose or faulty wiring.
- Demonstrate knowledge of 3-phase electrics.
- Apply knowledge of electromechanical processes.
- Conduct functional and safety testing of complete systems.
- Provide technical support as required.
Experience and Knowledge:
- Experience with switch mode and linear power supplies, as well as control systems using analogue and digital electronics.
- Experience working with high voltage and high-energy power supplies.
- Familiarity with test equipment such as function generators, multimeters, and oscilloscopes.
- Previous experience in fault-finding electronic circuits.
- Practical soldering skills and the use of rework tools.

- Work safely and minimise risks in engineering and construction tasks.
- Adhere to health, safety, and other relevant regulations and guidelines at all times.
- Supervisory and Training Duties:
- Instruct, supervise, and transfer skills to any apprentice or semi-skilled worker assigned to you to ensure safety and quality standards are maintained.
- Test all products safely.
- Use safety equipment, PPE, and protective devices and equipment as required.
