Sourcing Specialist - Buying/Procurement
Location: Rugby
Contract: 1 Year (Inside IR35)
Rate: £30/hour
Hours: 37/week
Hybrid: 4 days on-site, 1 day from home after training

We're seeking a Sourcing Specialist to join a high-profile project delivering complex, high-value components. You'll manage an existing supply chain, ensuring delivery aligns with quality, cost, and time targets.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Negotiate/manage terms, claims, and vendor recovery

  • Ensure on-time delivery: PO placement, invoicing, and expediting

  • Coordinate supplier/product qualification with Quality & Engineering

  • Monitor supplier performance and manage risks

  • Develop alternative sources and risk mitigation for sole/single source suppliers

  • Identify and implement value-added supply chain improvements

  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships

  • Communicate issues and solutions at senior levels, internally and externally



Requirements:

  • Proven experience in sourcing/procurement within high-value, complex projects

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills

  • Self-starter, adaptable, works well under pressure

  • Excellent interpersonal and stakeholder communication skills



Background:

  • Ability to manage a small number of key suppliers

  • Navigate supplier production/quality gateways

  • Experience in small-volume, high-value projects

  • Capable of guiding first-time suppliers through manufacturing processes



Desired Characteristics:

  • UK or Dual National (due to project requirements)

  • Security clearance preferred (not essential)

  • Background in defence or power-related industries

  • Experience managing high-value, bespoke components/assemblies

  • Willing to travel weekly to UK suppliers

  • Strong project and schedule management skills

  • Supplier quality and change management experience

  • Proactive, pragmatic approach to supplier issues

  • Competent in SAP, MS Office, and MS Project
