We are currently recruiting for a specialist Engineering business that is looking to bring an experienced Direct Buyer into thier established team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong background in procurement within the engineering sector, who is looking to further their career in a specialist environment.

Day-to-day of the role:

• Develop and implement procurement strategies that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities of our engineering projects.
• Manage supplier relationships to ensure that performance and standards meet the required levels.
• Negotiate contracts and improve prices and terms of business with suppliers and review opportunities to make business savings utilising negotiation and procurement best practice tools and methods.
• Prepare and raise purchase orders and order schedules.
• Build and maintain good relationships with new and existing suppliers.
• Conduct research to ascertain the best products and suppliers in terms of best value, delivery schedules, and quality.
• Liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments, and customers.
• Manage and resolve issues regarding price disputes, quality, or delivery.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Buyer, particularly in a direct procurement role within the engineering sector.
• Strong understanding of supply chain management and procurement processes.
• Excellent negotiation skills and the ability to secure advantageous terms.
• Effective communication, both in writing and verbally.
• Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple priorities.
• Proficient in standard logistics software.
• Degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field.
