Senior Buyer - 9 - 12 Month Maternity Contract

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Buyer for a prominent client in the manufacturing industry. This role is essential for building and maintaining strong, collaborative partnerships with key suppliers and leading procurement strategies. If you are a proactive buyer with a knack for negotiation and strategic sourcing, this opportunity is for you.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Build and maintain collaborative partnerships with both existing and future key suppliers.
  • Lead negotiations, implement contracts through SLAs and KPIs, and develop supplier management strategies that align with industry values.
  • Take the lead on procurement projects to meet the business's needs, goals, and objectives.
  • Support and assist in the training and development of the procurement team, serving as an escalation point for resolving issues and keeping stakeholders updated.
  • Attend and contribute to supplier, inter-department, and business unit meetings, distributing tasks within the procurement team as needed.
  • Provide interim leadership and decision-making support during the temporary absence of the department head.
  • Use initiative to support the creation and evolution of supplier and procurement scorecards and functional KPIs.
  • Drive cost optimisation, risk management, and innovation by sourcing strategically and fostering cross-departmental collaboration.
  • Resolve daily procurement issues to ensure timely delivery of components supporting production and customer requirements.
  • Support other priorities that benefit the progress of the business and the procurement team.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a senior procurement or supply chain role within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong skills in negotiation, contract management, and supplier development.
  • Demonstrated ability to align sourcing strategies with organisational goals.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills
  • CIPS qualified is desirable
