Metal Sheet Worker

We are looking for a Metal Sheet Worker to join our client based in Rugby on a permanent contract, on Morning Shift. Our client is a manufacturer parts for aircrafts and some small parts for local companies.

Training will be provided.

Responsibilities

  • Using tools like shears, saws, and lasers to cut metal sheets to the required size and shape for specific projects.
  • Fitting together various metal parts to form larger structures or machinery. This may involve welding, riveting, or bolting pieces together.
  • Interpreting engineering drawings to understand the specifications and measurements for the metal pieces that need to be fabricated.
  • Polishing, grinding, or sanding metal surfaces to remove rough edges or to prepare them for painting or coating.
  • Ensuring tools and machines used in the cutting, shaping, and assembling of metal sheets are in proper working condition and performing routine maintenance.

Ideal candidate :

  • Proficiency in using metalworking tools and equipment, such as shears, welding machines, drills, and presses. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and measurements accurately.
  • Strong focus on precision to ensure the correct dimensions and quality of the metal parts being produced, as even small errors can lead to defects.
  • Capability to work with heavy materials and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods, such as lifting metal sheets, operating machinery, and standing for long hours.
  • Ability to troubleshoot issues that arise during the fabrication process, such as identifying defects in materials or equipment malfunctions.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to safety protocols and guidelines to minimize the risk of injury or accidents while handling heavy machinery, sharp materials, and other hazardous equipment.
  • Previous experience in metalworking, sheet metal fabrication, or a related field, along with certifications in welding or machine operation, is often a plus.
  • Ability to collaborate with other team members and communicate effectively, especially when coordinating tasks or reporting issues.
