As the Workshop foreman you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the daily operations of the Fabrication Workshop and occasionally on-site when required.

The role involves a combination of technical expertise, leadership skills, and administrative responsibilities.

The Foreman is responsible for ensuring that the fabrication process runs smoothly. efficiently and safely.

The role requires strong leadership, organisational skills, technical knowledge, and the ability to work collaboratively with the workforce and higher management.

Our fabrication workshop is based in Ruislip, Middlesex

Supervision and Leadership:

  • Team Management:The foreman is responsible for leading and managing a team of fabricators, welders, and other workshop personnel.
  • Motivation:Keeping the team motivated and ensuring a positive working environment
  • Employee Performance:Enhance employee Skill set.
  • Disciplinary:Ability to challenge the employee`s if not performing when required

Project Planning and Coordination:

Scheduling:To carry the work schedule created by the production manager, creating work schedules. Assigning tasks and ensuring that projects are completed on time and to a high standard.

Consumables:Liaise with the storeman regarding the needs of consumables i.e. welding wire, gases, tools, and equipment.

Quality Control:

Inspection:To liaise with the Q&A department, oversee the quality of the fabrication work, and conduct inspections to ensure that products meet specifications and standards.

Problem-solving:Addressing any issues relating to fabrication quality and finding solutions to improve processes.

Safety Compliance

Enforcement:Enforcing safety protocols and ensuring that all workers adhere to safety regulations to prevent accidents and injuries

  • Training:Conducting toolbox talks for workers and maintaining a safe working environment
  • Housekeeping:Ensure all work areas are kept tidy and free from debris from ongoing tasks.

Technical Expertise

  • Knowledge:Having a strong understanding of the fabrication process, materials, and equipment
  • Problem-solving:Addressing technical challenges that may arise during the fabrication process

Administrative tasks

  • Documentation:Keeping records of work completed, materials used, and other relative data i.e. filling out the work instruction sheet and handing it back to the Q&A department.
  • Reporting:Providing regular reports to higher management on the status of projects, resources, and requirements and any issues that may affect productivity.

Communication:

  • Team Communication:Facilitating effective communication within the team and senior management.
  • Client Interaction:Interacting with clients to understand their requirements and providing updates on project progress as and when required.
