We're working with a long-standing, boutique accountancy practice based in Ruislip who are now on the lookout for an experienced Accounts Assistant Manager to join their close-knit and collaborative team.
This is an exciting time for the firm - one of the Managers has recently been promoted Director level, marking a key milestone in the firm's growth. As a result, they're now hiring at Assistant Manager level to support their expanding client base and internal team.
About the Firm:This 3-Partner firm offers a genuinely boutique feel and a supportive, down-to-earth culture. With 20 staff across tax, audit and accounts, admin and internal finance, there's a real team atmosphere - they've struck that rare balance of professionalism with personality. Most clients are within easy reach of the office, so travel is minimal.
The Accounts Assistant Manager Role:
This role will see you stepping into a key position within the Audit & Accounts team, supporting across primarily Accounts and Tax service lines, but an opportunity to become involved in audit during busier periods, , giving you great variety.
You'll be responsible for:* Liaising directly with clients - so strong communication is essential * Reviewing and preparing accounts from trial balance (FRS 102 and FRS 102 1A)* Reviewing corporate tax and personal tax returns* Mentoring and guiding juniors (including AAT and ACCA trainees)* Reviewing VAT returns (light touch - mostly a review function)* Supporting audit engagements and assisting the audit team
You'll work closely with the Audit and Accounts Partner. There's a clear structure here, and you'll be working alongside a senior Audit Assistant Manager and a solid team of juniors.
Software & Clients:* Audit: MyWorkpapers (Mercia)* Accounts: IRIS* Clients are diverse - from software and tech to charities, entertainment, construction and music, with turnovers typically between £2M and £20M.* Around 80% of clients have their own bookkeepers - so you'll be handed clean trial balances to work from.
The Ideal Accounts Assistant Manager - Candidate:* Strong technical grounding and the ability to review accounts from TB* Comfortable speaking directly with clients and explaining financials* ACA/ACCA qualified (or finalist with strong experience)* Background in a small or mid-sized practice, used to a hands-on role* A solid 4-5 years' experience under your belt* Happy to work 3 days in the office and 2 from home
