Duration:    Temp – ongoing

Hours:        Full Time - 40 hours (9am – 5pm or 10a. – 6pm)

On call rota for 1 week every 5-6 weeks

Our client, a well-respected charity dedicated to helping prevent homelessness and supporting victims of abuse are looking for a Specialist Support Worker to join their team

The role will include providing support and advise to female victims of modern-day slavery and human trafficking, helping to keep them safe.

Synopsis of duties:

  • Providing support to victims of abuse in an all-female safehouse
  • Helping to mitigate suffering from trauma caused by trafficking, sexual abuse, rape and or/domestic slavery
  • Conducting risk and needs assessments of the trafficked victim and using an evidence-based risk identification checklist and devising support plans
  • Advocating on behalf of the victims, providing support with legal options, housing, health and finance and working closely with other agencies, signposting when appropriate for further support
  • Managing a caseload, ensuring each individual’s complex needs are met
  • Providing support through the criminal justice system or Immigration Service, ensuring they are aware of their rights
  • Liaising with other agencies, ensuring service users receive co-ordinated help and support

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience providing casework support to vulnerable clients, conducting risk assessments and support plans
  • An understanding of legislation relating to Anti-trafficking and Modern Slavery or Immigration, homelessness, housing, employment, health and safety and safeguarding
  • Knowledge of the main support needs which are commonly faced by vulnerable client groups
  • A fully enhanced DBS dated within the last 12 months or on the update service
