Accountancy Recruit is partnering an engineering client in Runcorn to appoint a Financial Controller on a fixed term contract for 12 months with the possibility of a 3 month extension. This role would suit a Senior Management Accountant, Finance Manager, FC or Finance Director with the ability to oversee all financial and accounting operations within the Company. The FC will have responsibility for monthly and year-end reporting, managing accounts payable and receivable, payroll, budgeting and forecasting, and providing financial support to Operations.
The Financial Controller will have the following responsibilities:Â
- Oversee all aspects of financial management; including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
- Develop and implement financial policies, and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company objectives.
- Monitor and manage the company’s financial performance against budget and forecasts, providing regular updates to management.
- Prepare and present financial reports to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Manage working capital, including stock and accounts receivable and payable, to ensure optimal balance sheet health.
- Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement.
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, and ensure timely completion of calendar 2025 audit.
- Ensure accurate and timely processing of payroll, taxes, and other financial obligations.
- Develop and maintain relationships with Group Head Office, banks, financial institutions, HMRC, external accountants and other stakeholders.
- Supervise and mentor the finance team, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, teamwork, and professional development.Â
The Financial Controller will have the following skills/experience:
- ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a senior financial role, preferably in the energy/engineering industry, but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and budgeting.
- Proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Strong project management experience to lead the upgrade of Navision during the contract period.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
The salary advertised for this position is a guideline, the salary offered will be commensurate with experience.
