Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a single-form entry primary school in Runcorn as they are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated early years teaching assistant to support 2 pupils within the reception class on a one-to-one basis who both have SEN (special educational needs). This is a full-time long-term contract with an immediate start available.Your new roleIn your new role within this school, you will be supporting two pupils within the early years (reception) class on a one-to-one basis. You will take a pupil-centred approach to education, ensuring that your pupils' individual needs, emotional state, and academic requirements are met in a safe and inclusive environment. As you will be supporting pupils with ASD (autism) and non-verbal, you will be required to integrate yourself into their routine and effectively identify their triggers by monitoring their body language, holding phonics and speech and language sessions on a 1:1 basis. In the event that they do escalate, you will ensure that this happens in a safe environment by taking them to a quiet space within the classroom or taking them into a separate room.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as recent referenceable experience supporting children between the ages of 4 - 8, as well as:

  • Previous experience supporting SEN (special educational needs)
  • Experience delivering phonics and/or speech and language therapy
  • Be able to commit to a full-time contract
  • An NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualification in supporting teaching and learning is advantageous but not essential
