You will lead the control and electrical asset management to ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the facilities. You will also be heavily involved in the development of new R&D manufacturing equipment. This will be a creative part of the role to push the boundaries of engineering, you will be working on novel processes, for which there is not always suitable purpose-built equipment. You will use your knowledge and expertise to specify necessary equipment which will do the job, or modify equipment as needed.

You will be the senior engineer, with electricians and other engineers to work with who will bring you in for more challenging work. As a result you will need confidence to be standalone without someone else to lean on.

Day to day you will spend your time between

  • Asset maintenance, preventative and reactive maintenance.
  • Mandatory inspections – you will inherit a full plan to follow for this.
  • R&D projects as mentioned above.

You will need:

  • Familiar with, and trained on, 18th edition wiring regulations
  • Experience in a highly controlled environment, such as pharmaceutical, nuclear, defence, aerospace, chemicals etc.
  • CompEx 1-4 beneficial but not necessary, the company will pay for you to do it
  • COMAH site experience beneficial but not necessary
  • A hands on approach, willing to get stuck in and you will have most likely progressed from an apprenticeship or worked as an industrial electrician or controls and instrumentation engineer
  • 10 years of similar experience – Electrical Control Engineer or EC&I Engineer
  • You will need to live commutable to Runcorn so you could live in or near Liverpool, the Wirral, Chester, Warrington, Widnes, St Helens, Knutsford, Altrincham, Ellesmere Port, Winsford, Frodsham, Northwich
