Field Service Engineer required for a robotics & automation manufacturer based in the Liverpool area. The role will involve 70% travel including staying away abroad at times (Europe, USA, India, Ireland, etc). All expenses paid for. In this role, you'll be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and calibrating laboratory automation equipment to ensure it meets both our standards and customer expectations.
The ideal candidate has experience with measuring tools, strong mechanical and electrical
troubleshooting skills, and a solid understanding of machine components.
Field Service Engineer Job Overview- Act as the initial point of contact for addressing, diagnosing, and resolving customer issues, focusing on automation systems.
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance to optimize the performance of customer systems.
- Troubleshoot, update, and calibrate laboratory automation equipment and robotic systems with precision and expertise.
- Install, configure, and test devices and robotic systems to meet customer specifications, ensuring quality standards are achieved.
- Leverage hands-on expertise in mechanical and electrical diagnostics, including root cause analysis and a deep understanding of machine components.
- Maintain thorough and accurate documentation of issues and resolutions in the customer support management system for effective tracking and communication.
- Address customer concerns through remote support (via phone, email, or online tools) or in-person visits, adhering to agreed service level agreements (SLAs).
- Conduct follow-ups after issue resolution to ensure customer satisfaction and uphold service excellence.
- Provide comprehensive solutions in a customer-facing role, handling both first- and second-level technical support.
- Adapt to shifting customer needs, workload demands, and evolving job requirements with flexibility.
- Contribute to the customer service knowledge base by documenting issues, resolutions, and insights gleaned from customer interactions.
Education:
- Minimum HNC in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering. Practical, hands-on experience in electrical, instrumentation, or automation roles may be considered as an alternative to formal qualifications.
- Professional Background: At least 5 years of experience in a field service or customer-focused technical role.
Technical Skills:
- Expertise in maintaining and servicing devices and instrumentation, with a focus on electrical or mechanical systems.
- Experience in operating and maintaining automation systems (preferred).
- Familiarity with robotic systems, particularly within laboratory or industrial contexts.
- Background in the Life Science or pharmaceutical sectors is highly advantageous.
- Travel Requirements: Willingness to travel globally up to 70% of the time for both proactive service and urgent customer needs.
