This permanent Customs Manager position based in the Cheshire area is working with a world leading Chemical Manufacturer which delivers material advances to power the future of green and smart cities, transportation and healthcare. This Customs Manager role is offering a salary of up to £65,000, is hybrid (3 days in the office, 2 days at home) and accompanied by a benefits package including 33 days holiday, 9% employer pension contribution, Private Medical Insurance, Annual Bonus, Death In Service scheme, Income Protection Scheme and more.

The Customs Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of relevant trade compliance, whilst anticipating and communicating impact and risk on the business of any developing regulations. You will also ensure that the company adheres to regulations and laws across various countries with a specific focus on the UK and EU.

Responsibilities of the Customs Manager:

  • The Customs Manager will be responsible for updating and implementing compliance strategies and policies to ensure adherence to relevant international regulations.
  • You will stay informed with international trade regulations, laws, and sanctions to maintain a global perspective on compliance, alongside implementing management strategies to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Responsibility for managing the classification and valuation of goods to ensure accurate and consistent declarations.
  • Working closely with engineers/regulatory and the research teams to determine the correct Harmonized System (HS) codes for various products imported into the UK and EU.
  • You will utilize knowledge of trade agreements to optimize duty and tax obligations as well as identifying opportunities to leverage free trade agreements and other relevant facilitation programs.
  • In charge of communicating with authorities, brokers, and other relevant stakeholders in order to resolve issues and stay informed about changes in regulations.
  • Oversee the preparation and accuracy of documentation, including import and export declarations in addition to inward processing returns and approval.

To be successful in this Customs Manager position you will:

  • Hold a minimum of 6 years' experience working within international trade.
  • Strong knowledge of trade compliance processes and the interplay with global supply chain.
  • Holding a bachelors or master's degree in International Trade, Global Tax, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or a relevant discipline is highly desired.
  • You will have knowledge of warehousing and IPR regulations, as well as experience working at both national and international level.
  • It would be desirable to hold experience working with Dutch and UK authorities related to UK and EU regulations.
  • Full SAP knowledge and experience.
