As aCompliance Associate, you'll be at the forefront of ensuring timely responses to Subject Access Requests and Data Protection queries within statutory timescales. Your role will involve reviewing cases and providing data subjects with requested information in line with GDPR. The role ofCompliance Associatewould suit someone with good organisational skills and attention to detail along with a "whatever it takes" attitude.

Key Responsibilities of a Compliance Associate

  • Review Subject Access Requests received via a number of communication methods including letter, email and telephone, and provide a response within statutory timescales.
  • Conduct thorough investigations into queries received by the Data Protection Office, gathering relevant information and documentation.
  • Liaise with internal departments and external parties, such as collection agents and regulatory bodies, to address and resolve queries related to personal data.
  • Provide clear communication, keeping the data subject informed of the progress of their request.
  • Document all interactions and responses accurately in the company's compliance management system.
  • Identify root causes and trends in requests and recommend process improvements to improve efficiency within the department and wider business.
  • Support the Quality Assurance team through review of employee interactions with data subjects, identifying areas for improvement and training needs.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, including the Information Commissioners Office (ICO) and company policies throughout the process.
  • Completing administration tasks on our case management system such as placing cases on hold where Breathing Space has been applied.
  • Completing traces on defendants, analysing results to ensure the correct data subject is provided with information.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Must be IT literate with Word and Excel and qualified to at least GCSE English and Maths (or equivalent). Will be updating and maintaining case files within a bespoke IT system
  • The successful candidate will be organised, accurate and methodical in their approach.
  • Comfortable working within a team and alone
  • Self-starter and Self-motivator are key characteristics for this role
  • Precision and attention to detail is a must
  • A polite, positive and professional telephone manner is required taking enquiry calls and directing to the relative departments and individuals
  • Ability to multitask in a fast paced office environment
