Transport General Manager

Location: RuncornSalary: circa £60,000 DOE

Reed Procurement & Supply Chain are currently working exclusively with a well-established, family-run business dedicated to providing exceptional service in the transportation and logistics industry. Our client prides themselves on their commitment to customer satisfaction and our strong team-oriented culture. We are currently seeking a dynamic and experienced Transport General Manager to join and lead our client's Runcorn operation.

Position Overview: As the Transport General Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of our transportation operations. You will ensure the efficient and effective movement of goods from production to the end user, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and Supervise Shipments: Oversee the entire shipment process from production to delivery, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to end users.
  • Schedule Routes: Develop and manage daily and weekly transportation routes to optimize efficiency and meet customer demands.
  • Coordinate and Manage: Supervise drivers, vehicles, loads, and journeys to ensure smooth operations.
  • Compliance: Ensure all transportation activities comply with company policies and relevant laws and regulations.
  • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any issues related to transportation, logistics systems, imports/exports, or customer concerns.
  • Budget Management: Review and analyse budgets, expenditures, and operational performance to identify areas for improvement.
  • Safety Procedures: Ensure all drivers and staff are trained in and adhere to safety procedures.
  • Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspections to ensure fleet reliability and safety.
  • Customer Communication: Engage with customers to ensure satisfaction and address any logistic issues promptly.

Qualifications:

  • CPC Licence (non negotiable).
  • Proven experience in transportation management or a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of transportation laws and regulations.
  • Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Proficiency in logistics software and Microsoft Office Suite.
