Ships Agent Supervisor

Runcorn, Chesire

£36,000 - £43,000 (flexible depending on experience)  

Monday – Friday, 08:00 – 17:00

A dynamic and well-established organization is seeking an experienced Agency Supervisor to plan, coordinate, and oversee shipbroking and agency activities. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery of services while providing exceptional support to customers and colleagues.

Key Benefits;

  • £36,000 - £43,000  (flexible depending on experience)
  • Death in service x 2 of salary
  • 20 + 8 days holiday , increasing by 1 per year
  • Pension, matched up to 8.38%
  • Annual bonus incentive

The Candidate;

  • Previous experience in ship agency or a related maritime role
  • Strong knowledge of port operations, shipping regulations, and documentation procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in using relevant software and technology for port call management and documentation.
  • A proactive and problem-solving mindset, with the ability to handle unexpected challenges calmly and efficiently.
  • Flexibility to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, as required by vessel schedules.

Duties and Responsibilities;

  • Oversee agency activities to ensure they are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with port requirements.
  • Safeguard goods and materials during agency operations.
  • Drive the development of shipbroking activities, ensuring these are conducted with safety and efficiency in mind.
  • Assist in producing bids and quotations for new business, identifying and securing chartering, agency, and shipbroking contracts.
  • Supervise day-to-day operations, including staff oversight, customer service, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Optimize the use of resources to meet quality, financial, and environmental goals.
  • Plan, execute, and document work using company systems, as required.
  • Assist in organizing and training agency staff, monitoring performance, and encouraging their development.
  • Foster positive working relationships, motivate staff, and promote teamwork to achieve productivity targets.
  • Ensure effective and prompt communication with colleagues, customers, and suppliers.
  • Provide outstanding customer service and identify opportunities to enhance services for new and existing clients.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
