Quality Manager Role Overview

The Quality Manager will play a key role in ensuring and raising the standards of quality and food safety across the organisation, particularly in the production of specialty food oils and sauces. This role offers a significant level of autonomy, allowing the successful candidate to shape and develop the position according to the needs of the business. The Quality Manager will report directly to the Technical Manager.

You will have a team of 4 QA/QC's and 4 Hygiene operatives to oversee. Keeping them on task and mentoring them throghout to help progress their skills.

Key Responsibilities:
- **Quality Systems Management: Develop, implement, and manage quality systems to ensure compliance with food safety and quality standards, focusing on the unique requirements of specialty food oils and sauces.
- **Audit Coordination: Conduct internal audits, prepare for external audits, and implement corrective actions for non-conformances.
- **HACCP Leadership: Lead site HACCP reviews and manage related processes, with a focus on maintaining the highest standards in food oil and sauce production.
- **Team Management: Oversee and develop Quality Auditors and Hygiene Operators, ensuring the team meets the specific needs of the specialty food industry.
- **Continuous Improvement: Conduct root cause analysis and identify opportunities for process and quality improvement, particularly in the production of oils and sauces.
- **Customer Complaints Handling: Investigate and resolve customer complaints, ensuring issues are not repeated.
- **Food Safety Culture: Support the development and implementation of a robust food safety culture at the site.
- **Hygiene Management: Ensure the site meets all Hygiene Management system requirements, especially those pertinent to the production of food oils and sauces.
- **Cross-Department Collaboration:** Work closely with various departments to ensure quality and safety standards are maintained.

Candidate Profile:
- **Experience: Previous experience in an FMCG environment with BRC requirements, ideally within the specialty food sector.
- **Education: Degree-level qualification or equivalent.
- **Certifications: Minimum Level 3 in Food Hygiene and HACCP.
- **Leadership: Proven ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team effectively.
- **Audit Experience: Strong background in leading audits and customer visits.
- **Problem-Solving: Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- **Communication: Strong professional relationship-building skills across multiple departments.
