Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based high school that is easily accessible via public transport as they are looking to appoint a reliable and experienced teaching assistant for a long-term full-time contract. The working hours for this role are 8:30am - 3:30pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will support the class teacher's offering a stimulating and engaging learning environment for all pupils. You will be based in lower KS4 but will be required to support other KS3 and KS4 year groups, offering intense Maths and English interventions and boosters to mixed/lower ability pupils on a small group basis within a separate classroom. You will liaise with the class teachers on pupil progress and reintegrate them into the main class. As well as supporting within a separate class, you will support main classes with behaviour management, setting expectations for pupils and tailoring behaviour support and academic processes dependent on their attainment needs and personalities. A number of pupils within this school do have big personalities and will become disruptive/push boundaries at times. You will be required to retain their focus by building strong constructive relations by using distraction and reflexion techniques.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting KS3 and/or KS4 aged pupils, as well as:

  • Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions on a 1:1 and small group basis (intense sessions in Maths and English is preferred)
  • Experience implementing positive behaviour strategies
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
