We have an exciting opportunity to recruit a Supported Housing Officer on a temp-to-perm basis, on a 35 hour per week contract across Monday to Friday. This is a hybrid position, but will be required to travel to sites in Liverpool, the Wirral and North Wales with mileage paid from home (45p per mile) and can be expected to split your time 50/50 between home-working and site visits.

You will act as the main lead for housing management across your patch and will support the vulnerable service users within your caseload and the Housing Support Workers based at each location.

Key responsibilities:

  • Monitoring current and former arrears and credit accounts, taking direct action where arrears are accruing in line with company policy
  • Attending joint visits or telephone appointments with Housing Support Workers where service users may need additional support with benefits, debt and money management, and to guide & advise HSWs on best action/practice
  • Preparing legal documentation including notices, witness statements and other court documents for enforcement or to end a tenancy where appropriate, representing at court where required
  • Providing advice on any tenancy breaches and all tenure policies including abandonment, tenancy changes, deaths, creation and ending of tenancies
  • Supporting on low-level ASB and promoting the use of early intervention measures
  • Ensure all properties have up to date fire safety/health & safety checks, and working with colleagues to ensure all known repairs requirements have been reported, and HSWs know how to report repair requirements
  • Co-producing action plans with HSWs and service users

What you'll need to succeed

  • Minimum 2 years housing management experience including preparing legal casework and presenting evidence at court
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of Welfare Benefits system
  • Good understanding of current legislation relating to housing management, tenancy enforcement, homelessness and social housing, as well as early intervention tools & legal remedies
  • Experience of managing rent and maximising income including managing current & former tenant arrears
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal
  • Driving licence with access to own vehicle and valid business insurance
