Your new companyHays are proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based single form entry primary school as they are looking to appoint a motivated and experienced teaching assistant to support a pupil in lower KS2 (Key Stage 2) on a 1:1 basis and offer intervention and booster sessions in core subjects across the year 3 and year 4 classes. This is a long-term full-time temporary position starting after the February half-term.Your new roleAs teaching assistant within this school, you will be based in lower KS2 supporting a pupil on a 1:1 basis with SEN. This pupil does have behavioural needs and ASD but is fairly independent. They are a lovely young pupil but do require support to retain focus during lessons. You will implement positive behaviour strategies to aid in retaining their focus by playing games with them, associating learning material with their interest and monitoring their triggers. In the event that they become disruptive, you will ensure that this has a minimal impact on the wider class by offering a safe space and taking them outside the classroom if you feel that they would benefit from burning off steam before integrating them back into the classroom. As well as offering 1:1 support, you will also offer intervention and booster sessions on a group basis across the year 3 and year 4 classes, including intense interventions within a separate classroom.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience as a teaching assistant within the last 2 years, as well as:
- An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification
- Experience delivering intervention and booster sessions
- Experience supporting SEN is advantageous
