Your new companyHays Recruitment is proud to be supporting a Runcorn-based single-form entry primary school as they are looking to appoint an experienced and motivated SEN teaching assistant to support pupils across the school on a 1:1 basis. This is a long-term full-time temporary position consisting of 1:1 support for pupils in the reception, year 3, year 3, year 4, year 5 and year 6 classes on a timetabled basis with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will offer 1:1 support to pupils with SEN across the school. As you will be supporting a number of different pupils, you will need to take a pupil-centred approach to their learning so as to ensure that their individual needs are at the heart of all operations. You will be supporting a variety of SEN with needs consisting of SEMH, emotional regulation, ASD and communication needs. You will implement positive behaviour strategies (sensory play, brain breaks and regulation), complete speech and language interventions, phonics assessments and integration into new pupil groups. You will liaise with the class teachers and SENCO on your pupils' progress and aid in the management of their EHCP's.What you'll need to succeedTo be considered in your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referenceable experience supporting pupils between the ages of 4-11 in the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Extensive experience supporting pupils with SEN (ideally ASD, behavioural and emotional needs)
  • Experience using positive behaviour strategies
  • Experience delivering speech and language interventions
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification is advantageous but not essential
  • Be comfortable with personal/intimate care
