Job Advertisement: Tutor for Excluded Primary School Children (Halton Area)
Position: Primary School Tutor - Maths & English
Location: Halton, Cheshire
Type: Part-Time (3 hours per morning, Monday to Friday)
Salary: Up to 35ph
The Role:
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced tutor to provide focused support in Maths and English to young children who have been excluded from primary school. You will work with a small number of children on a one-to-one or small group basis for three hours each morning, helping them catch up academically and develop key skills for reintegration into education.
Responsibilities:
- Plan and deliver engaging, individualised lessons in Maths and English.
- Create a positive and supportive learning environment to re-engage children with education.
- Assess students abilities and progress, tailoring lessons to their specific needs.
- Build trust and confidence with children who may have experienced challenges in traditional school settings.
- Provide regular feedback to parents/carers and the relevant educational authorities.
Requirements:
- Experience teaching or tutoring young children, particularly in Maths and English.
- A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to teaching.
- Knowledge of the UK primary curriculum.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one).
Preferred:
- Experience working with children who have faced educational or behavioural challenges.
- Teaching qualifications (e.g., QTS, PGCE) or relevant tutoring experience.
