Job Title: Warehouse and Admin assistant

Salary: £22,877
Hours: Full time, Permanent. Monday to Friday 09:00-17:00, 1 hour breaks.
Location: Rushden, Northamptonshire

The role of the Library Cataloguer is to work as part of the Archive and Library team and to support the Archive & Library Manager and colleagues in delivering a forward-looking and efficient service, ensuring that the Archive and Library fully support the functions of Penguin Random House and stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

  • Catalogues new incoming stock according to the Dewey Decimal Classification system
  • Works with the Archive & Library team to ensure that the stock is shelved, stored and circulated as required
  • Understands, and delivers, required Archive and Library processes and tasks, such as arranging deliveries and filing contracts
  • Other related duties as requested by the Archive & Library Manager


Essential skills

  • Experience of working in a library, archive or information service
  • Good computer skills including the ability to maintain databases and records
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and good organisation skills
  • Ability to prioritise tasks and solve routine problems
  • Ability to be an active and effective team member
  • Flexibility, enthusiasm and a willingness to undertake a variety of tasks
  • To be curious and to look for efficient ways to solve routine issues
  • Experience of delivering excellent customer service
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively to a wide range of people at all levels


Desirable skills

  • Experience of library cataloguing and classification with Dewey Decimal Classification
  • Knowledge of publishing or historical (library or archive) collections and the challenges they face in the 21st century
