An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 5/6 Occupational Therapist to join the Acute Medical Team in the Norfolk area. The successful candidate will play a vital role in assessing and treating patients within an acute medical setting, providing crucial support for their rehabilitation and recovery.

Location: Norfolk Area
Salary: £25-26 per hour (dependent on experience)
Hours: Full-time (Part-time applications also considered)

Start: ASAP!

This is a full-time position, although part-time applicants are encouraged to apply. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality care to patients with a range of acute medical conditions. The Occupational Therapist will be responsible for assessing patients’ needs, implementing intervention plans, and supporting their functional independence through evidence-based practice.

In an acute medical team, the role of the OT is vital for improving the patient's functional abilities, helping them recover independence, and supporting them as they return to their normal lives post-hospitalization. The combination of clinical expertise, empathy, and collaborative work makes the Acute Medicine OT a critical member of the healthcare team in any acute medical setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments for patients within an acute medical setting
  • Develop and implement person-centred treatment plans aimed at improving functional independence
  • Work collaboratively with medical, nursing, and allied health professionals
  • Provide timely discharge planning and recommendations for ongoing support or equipment needs
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with departmental and legal guidelines
  • Offer education and advice to patients, carers, and families regarding rehabilitation and care strategies

Essential Requirements:

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist
  • Experience or interest in working within an acute medical environment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • A commitment to continuous professional development

  1. Acute and Community skills 
  2. Medicine/ Older Person’s Medicine / General Surgery
  3. Paediatrics 
  4. Neuroscience – Stroke /Neurology 
  5. Front Door
