We are seeking a dedicated Benefits & Money Advisor to provide exceptional customer-focused service. This role involves delivering quality advice and information on money, benefits, and other social welfare matters, ensuring our customers are well-informed and supported.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Deliver a proactive and preventative income management service aligned with the association’s corporate objectives.
  • Increase benefit awareness, promote entitlements, and foster a culture of payment among customers, assisting in maximising their income levels.
  • Provide information, training, and advice to colleagues on welfare and benefit advice.
  • Contribute to the improvement of services and assist in the development of policies and procedures.
  • Offer training to customers on benefits, money management, and budgeting skills, including their rights and responsibilities.
  • Manage a caseload of complex cases relating to benefit appeals and represent customers at hearings as appropriate.
  • Stay current with legislation, regulations, and best practices related to welfare benefits and Welfare Reform.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in providing money, benefit, or welfare advice.
  • Ability to calculate benefit entitlements and identify errors and underclaims.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to understand customer needs in emotional and sensitive situations.
  • Knowledge of all benefits available and the claiming process, including those for EU nationals.
  • Experience with benefit appeals and tribunal representation.
  • Commitment to delivering high-quality customer services and continuous improvement.
  • Flexibility to work a variable schedule, including some weekends and evenings.
  • Must be a car owner with a valid UK (or equivalent) driving licence.
