Senior Buyer Procurement Up to £50,000 Wellingborough Monday to Friday SF Recruitment is assisting a client in Wellingborough in their search for a Senior Buyer to join their Procurement team. This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary of up to £50,000. In this pivotal role, you will support the contracts team by managing larger projects, ensuring the procurement of materials and equipment is timely and cost-effective. Strong communication skills are essential, as you'll need to manage effective relationships with stakeholders to fully understand project requirements and make informed decisions. Ideal candidates will have prior procurement experience, preferably in a construction environment. Role Responsibilities: - Participate in tender meetings, gathering material quotations, data sheets, and tenders to ensure all relevant information is available. - Assist Contracts Managers with the material approval process and address any technical queries. - Review stock levels and align them with project requirements before ordering new items. - Manage procurement for larger schemes and clients. - Lead and support the buying team, ensuring adherence to processes and sharing best practices. - Coordinate delivery logistics of materials and equipment with Contracts Managers, confirming locations, timelines, and budgets. - Report any concerns or delays regarding material lead times to Contracts Managers and Senior Management. - Identify and onboard new suppliers to enhance value, service, and reduce lead times. - Negotiate supplier terms, including unit pricing, delivery charges, rebates, and credit terms. - Develop and report key procurement metrics to showcase departmental value. - Contribute to establishing a robust stock management system. Candidate Profile: - Proven experience in Purchasing/Procurement. - Background in Construction or Civil Engineering is preferred. - Strong planning and organisational skills. - Excellent negotiation abilities. - Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills. - Positive, flexible approach. - Familiarity with LEAN principles is advantageous.
