We are a local Charity passionate about supporting disadvantaged people in our community and supporting those impacted by homelessness, poverty and social exclusion. We have an exciting opportunity for a Charity Shop Manager to join our team. This is a newly created position.

The Charity Shop Manager is responsible for the effective management and operation of the Charity Shop. This includes generating income, recruiting and leading volunteers, overseeing stock donations, ensuring an excellent customer experience, and engaging with the local community to maximise fundraising potential. This role is key to supporting the work of the Charity, helping to raise essential funds to support people affected by homelessness, poverty, and social exclusion.

This is a fixed term appointment (12 months) with the potential for permanent status. This is a part-time position, offering flexible hours.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Retail & Sales Performance

  • Ensure the shop meets or exceeds its income and profit targets.
  • Maximise sales through effective stock management, Gift Aid, and promotions.
  • Deliver an outstanding customer experience to build a loyal customer base.
  • Maintain high merchandising standards, including attractive window and in-store displays.
  • Organise and coordinate special promotions and events to drive footfall and sales.

Stock & Donation Management

  • Encourage and secure high-quality stock donations from the community.
  • Process, price, and display stock efficiently to maintain a fresh and attractive shop floor.
  • Manage stock rotation to maximise revenue and minimise waste.
  • Ensure proper storage and security of stock and cash handling.
  • Managing the recycling of items not suitable for sale.

Volunteer Leadership & Team Management

  • Recruit, train, and supervise a team of volunteers, ensuring a positive and inclusive working environment.
  • Motivate volunteers to contribute effectively to the shop’s success.
  • Plan and manage volunteer rotas to ensure adequate shop coverage.
  • Provide ongoing training and support to enhance volunteer development.

Shop Administration & Compliance

  • Manage all financial transactions and maintain accurate records.
  • Ensuring accurate use of the electronic till by volunteers with balanced daily takings reconciliations
  • Ensure the shop operates in compliance with relevant retail and charity regulations.
  • Complete regular reports on shop performance and financial targets.
