Service Manager & Senior Mechanic who has management / supervisory experience, leading a busy workshop is required for a well-established, independent garage / MOT centre based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, East Midlands.

ALL LEVELS OF MANAGEMENT EXPERIENCE CONSIDERED

Are you currently working in a management position within a busy garage or do you have supervisory experience and looking to move into a management position. Providing you’re a level 4 qualified mechanic and happy to work in a 'hands on’ role, the company would like to hear from you.

SALARY: £35,000 per annum + Benefits (Company Pension, On-Site Parking, Uniform, 20 Days Annual Leave plus Bank Holidays)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Service Manager & Senior Mechanicwho has management / supervisory experience, leading a busy workshop.

Working as the Service Manager & Senior Mechanic you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the busy workshop while maintaining a hands-on approach to vehicle repairs when required.

As the Service Manager & Senior Mechanic you will update customers on repairs, MOT failures and quotes for work.

As a successful candidate you will need great organisational, time-management, leadership and communication skills.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Service Manager & Senior Mechanic include:

Workshop Management:

• Oversee all aspects of workshop operations, including scheduling, job allocation, and ensuring efficient workflow

• Manage a busy workshop, providing guidance and support as needed

• Maintain a safe and clean working environment

• Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations

Technical Expertise:

• Diagnose and repair a wide range of vehicles

• Carry out routine servicing and repairs

• Conduct thorough vehicle inspections and prepare accurate repair estimates

Customer Service:

• Liaise with customers in a professional and courteous manner, explaining technical issues clearly and providing excellent customer service

• Advise customers on necessary repairs, including those identified during MOT tests

• Obtain customer authorisation for repairs before commencing work

• Build and maintain strong customer relationships

• Handle customer enquiries and complaints effectively

Administration:

• Maintain accurate records of all work carried out

• Order parts and manage stock levels

• Prepare invoices and process payments

Quality Control:

• Ensure all work is carried out to the highest standards

• Conduct quality checks on all completed repairs

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Proven experience as a Service Manager or in a similar supervisory role within a busy automotive workshop

• NVQ Level 4 in Vehicle Maintenance and Repair (or equivalent)

• Extensive experience in diagnosing and repairing a wide range of vehicles

• Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Customer service-oriented approach

• Excellent organisational and time-management skills

• Full UK Driving Licence
