Management Accountant

Location: Saffron Walden, EssexSalary: £45,000 - £50,000 (depending on experience)Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 9:00 am - 5:30 pm

Are you an experienced senior accountant with management accounting expertise looking for a stable, rewarding role closer to home working for an online business?

We are seeking a Management Accountant to oversee all areas of accounting within our online retail organization. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will manage day-to-day financial operations and provide leadership to one accounts assistant.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all bookkeeping and accounting processes.
  • Produce accurate and timely monthly management accounts.
  • Prepare year-end files for external auditors and assist with audit requirements.
  • Submit VAT returns and environmental returns.
  • Process monthly payroll data.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Handle monthly prepayments, accruals, calculations, and postings.
  • Conduct ledger and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage sales and purchase ledger processing.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial laws and regulations.
  • Implement and maintain robust internal financial controls and procedures.
Skills and Experience Required:
  • Qualified and experienced accountant with at least 5 years in a senior accounting role.
  • Background in retail, stock, or similar trading organizations.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented with a reliable work ethic.
  • Proficient in SAGE (preferably SAGE 200) and common Microsoft Office programs.
  • Strong ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Adaptable and willing to assist with any task required.
