A great opportunity has arisen for a talented Architect Assistant or Architectural Designer to join a growing Housing Developer with a burgeoning reputation for delivering contemporary high-quality developments with traditional character.

We require either a RIBA qualified Architectural Assistant or Architectural Designer with demonstrable UK industry experience within the Residential sector to come on board and become an important member of the design team.

The successful candidate will support the Head of Design and Development Director in the delivery of projects from concept to construction - working alongside staff in all other areas of the business, on a variety of projects, ranging from individual bespoke houses to large scale developments. The business is currently work across several sites that in total have the potential to deliver thousands of new homes across the region.

In recent times, the business has experienced healthy growth having invested heavily in new premises, which have provided new offices and a state-of-the-art timber frame manufacturing facility.

The position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to design development, the planning process and the preparation of building control and construction plans.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the Head of Design and Development Director in the delivery of projects from concept to construction
  • Organise own time within the parameters set by the Head of Design
  • Producing detailed drawings necessary to support planning applications
  • Producing supporting documentation for planning applications, including relevant reports and Design and Access Statements
  • Liaising with clients and working up designs from concept to planning stage
  • Submitting and monitoring planning applications including liaising with Planning Officers
  • Briefing and liaising with external consultants
  • Producing building control and construction drawings including technical details
  • Liaising with site managers and producing information to support construction

Architectural Assistant/Architectural Designer Requirements:

  • Relevant Architectural qualification - highly desirable
  • Residential development experience
  • Knowledge of ArchiCAD preferred but not essential
  • Must be willing to conduct site visits or attend meetings when required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full driving license and own transport essential due to rural location
  • Good technical knowledge and understanding of the UK Building Regulations
  • Experience producing building control and construction information desirable
  • Timber frame experience would be beneficial

The successful Architectural Assistant or Architectural Designer can expect to receive a highly competitive salary, likely to be in the region of 30k-36k dependent on experience.
