Polytec are looking for a Senior Research Scientist for our client based close to Saffron Walden.
Responsibilities:
* Execution of QPCR assays to quantify bacteria in samples from clinical trials
* Development and optimisation of quality control assays for batch release
* Development of microbiological and molecular assays to characterise novel bacterial isolates in order to develop and test hypotheses on their mechanisms of action
* Characterisation of anaerobic bacteria for development as medicinal products into live bacterial therapeutics in support of regulatory submissions
* Provide guidance to junior members of staff
Requirements:
* PhD in Microbiology or a related discipline/or equivalent experience
* Ability to work independently
* Natural sense of organisation and teamwork, sharing know-how and expertise in a multidisciplinary environment
* Ability to design, execute and document experimental activities to high standards (required for regulatory filings)
* Sound understanding of the business perspective when making commercial decisions
