R&D Manager (Engineering)

We are working with an expanding Aerospace engineering business that specialises in repair solutions for complex aircraft components. They're known for delivering bespoke services to major clients.

This role will be to plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of R&D workshops to enhance services for internal and external customers. Manage project costs and budgets, track progress against targets, and develop team members for optimal performance and productivity.

Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee the R&D department and HR to drive production.
  • Supervise workshop teams in line with company policy.
  • Plan daily tasks to meet business objectives.
  • Set goals to maximise team potential.
  • Implement procedures to improve operational efficiency.
  • Develop and enforce department policies.
  • Monitor performance data and project budgets.
  • Improve communication between R&D and other departments.
  • Create training plans to align with aerospace documentation and legislation.
  • Support production and implement selected R&D projects.
  • Manage R&D claims, including preparing and submitting required documentation.

Education and Experience

  • A-Level or equivalent education required.
  • Experience in the aerospace engineering sector; at least two years of experience in an aerospace workshop or with inspection approval.
  • Electrical/Mechanical Engineering is ideal.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of HR principles and people management principles.
  • Experience in planning, workload management, and meeting production targets.
